Notice of Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact/Record of Decision

Notice is hereby given that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Northwest Mountain Region, has approved a Final Environmental Assessment (EA) and a Finding of No Significant Impact/Record of Decision (FONSI/ROD) for the proposed Upgrade to Airport Reference Code at Canyonlands Field.
The Proposed Action includes the strengthening and widening of Runway 3-21 from 75 feet to 100 feet; temporarily displacing Runway 3 threshold by 539 feet and Runway 21 threshold by 252 feet including moving related airfield lighting and visual aids; replacing the culvert under Runway 3-21 with a similar sized culvert; widening taxiway fillets to 50 feet and minor apron expansion; construct blast pads on each runway end; acquiring Bureau of Land Management (BLM) land; realigning Blue Hills Road, a wash area and perimeter fence; and shifting Runway 3-21 260 feet to the southwest to remove the temporary displaced thresholds from both runway ends.
The Final EA and FONSI/ROD found that the project is consistent with existing environmental policies and objectives set forth in the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 and will not significantly affect the quality of the human environment.
In accordance with current Council on Environmental Quality regulations, copies of the Final EA and FONSI/ROD are available for review at Grand County Courthouse and Canyonlands Field during normal business hours through August 25, 2017.
