Notice is hereby given that the Monticello City Council will hold a public hearing on May 9, 2017, at the Hideout Community Center, 648 S Hideout Way, to receive public comment for proposed amendments to Title 8-1-4: STATEMENT OF CHARGES; DELINQUENCY.

ORDINANCE NO. 2017 - __
TITLE: Amendments to Water & Sewer; Statement of Charges; Delinquency
PURPOSE: To extend time until shutoff occurs in Title 8-1-4, of the City Code of the City of Monticello.
WHEREAS, City Code does not comply with Federal Consumer Protection Laws, and
WHEREAS, the City Council has a fiduciary responsibility to collect all payments due in a fair and reasonable manner;
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Monticello City Council:
Title 8-1-4 Statement of Charges; Delinquency: Section B, of the Water & Sewer, of the City Code of Monticello is hereby amended as follows:
B. Failure to Pay:
If any person fails to pay the water charges, the City shall give the customer notice in writing of intent to discontinue the service to the customer unless the customer pays the bill in full within ten (10) days from the date of notice.
This ordinance shall become effective May 9, 2017.
